Painting and moving

with one comment

Had the first occupancy inspection once the winter gave way to spring.   Everything was fine but they also wanted the eavestrough on , interior doors on, dead bolts on external doors, interior walls up, front deck and a step put in and odds and sods.

A bit of scrambling later and all that was done and had to wait to get the inspector back.   All finally approved and occupancy granted – almost like receiving a knighthood at the discretion of the state.  Also had to have the electrical work i did – solar panels, inverter, batteries etc all inspected by the electrical authority which was done and passed also this spring.
Recently had to start mudding the drywall once I got in to the place in preparation of painting.

Sheets up but the pesky 4 inch gap to fill

Put in the one step which I still don't think is required by code, but....deck just about done

Took a while working here and there to do the drywall

Primed and a couple of coats on. Starting to look more home like.

Finally a place to relax and read. Books should start going in shortly

Next on the list is moving some stuff in and putting in a fridge.  Have a freezer in there now running which works fine.

Still back and forth on what I will do with the floor eventually.  Covered with floor rugs pretty much.

Organizing the utility room is the first thing to do.  Need to get the tools and equipment put away.   Then I will clear out the second bedroom and put up the cedar in the bathroom to complete that.   Deck under the porch should be done shortly as well as building a wood shed next to the porch so I can get firewood without tramping through knee high snow.   Many thanks to Don and Betty for ideas, rugs and books !

Onwards and upwards

  1. Hey there Cameron – I just tried to send a comment on the blog but naturally access was denied! Anyways how are you doing? Your place looks great! You will be nice and cozy this winter…make sure you stock up on books, firewood and wine!!

So we moved 3 weeks ago and have been living in chaos – out of boxes…we just got our shower, hot water and ceiling fans last night!! at least we’ll be a bit more prepared for the 40 degree weather coming….we are downright civilized again! lol.

So I was wondering if you were able to get any kind of garden in this year? Mine was paltry – set up a few tomatoes, cukes and peppers (and herbs) in containers at the new place in the spring – we have already eaten the 9 or 10 tomatoes that we got….I only had one plant! lol. oh well – next year i can work on that – the backyard is asphalt so we have to break it up …. sigh. sooo much work!!! I’m sure you know the feeling…..

    Anyways keep in touch….

    🙂
